Frizzy Haircare - Hits and Misses

Let's get real for a minute. How many of you have hair like mine? Not curly but also not straight. Sometimes it feels like a wavy, frizzy mess.
That being said, how many of you have struggled with caring for or styling your not-so-cooperative locks? Finding product that works well is like looking for Mr or Mrs Right. You might find your Mr or Mrs Right Now but something is missing.
As someone who firmly believes in writing reviews, I am an equal believer in reading them. But even the best of reviews have sour ones.

This topic is about product triumphs and regrets. First, how many products have you bought that you later regretted? If any of you are like me, the list might be long. Sadly, some of mine are because the product was great then the formula got changed. :( Taking your favorite to the worst. But, how many products have you bought and it was love from the start? Below are the best and worst products I've ever used on these curly-ish locks.

Starting with the bad.

Bed Head (Tigi) Foxy Curls Mousse
It makes me sad to have this product on my list. It used to be my favorite. I was willing to pay the higher price because it was so good! My curls were beautiful. Now? Not so much. They end up dried out and crunchy. If that's what I want I can get some LA Looks gel for much less. I've kept it in my closet for 2 reasons.
1- it's expensive! I paid $16.99 for it.
2- I might get desperate and really need some mousse. I rarely run out, thanks to Ulta with their buy and save, but I might.

L'Oreal Curve It Curl Elastic Mousse
I'm not usually the type to knock L'Oreal. Overall, they make good cosmetic products that are affordable. But their hair line? There always seems to be something missing. When I think of curls, I think of bouncy and touchable. I want soft, not crunchy. Sadly, there is no "elastic" to this mousse. This is worn out elastic that's stiff and unmoving. I bought this because the packaging had the tags "strong hold" and "non-crunchy". The first is accurate. My curls went NOWHERE. The second? No. My hair almost felt like I poured cement on them. I was really disappointed with this mousse. But, like the Bed Head, it's somehow still here.

The rest of this list was so bad they went in the trash.

John Frieda's entire Frizz Ease line
I'm not sure where to begin with this. When I saw this line I splurged and bought everything I saw. From shampoo to hair spray. It was an epic fail. My hair went from wavy to a semi-straight bail of hay. This was probably one of the worst experiences of my life (and I survived the hair disasters of the 80s/90s).

Herbal Essences Totally Twisted Mousse
This is another example of the formula being changed. It went from soft, bouncy curls to flat line. When I was really broke, this used to be my lifeline. I was sad when it went south.

Edit:
Devacurl SuperCream
Just. No. This is arguably one of the worst I've tried. I got a really large sample from Ulta and still felt like I paid too much. The product is so heavy that my curls went flat in a hurry. I tried it twice. It's reviews were so good that I was convinced that I was the problem. Nope! Second try was just as bad as the first. My sample went right in the trash.

I can't recall others by name and can't find their packaging online so, hopefully, the rest disappeared.

Time for some good.

OGX Quenching Plus Coconut Curls Mousse
This is my current favorite. Initially I didn't like it, it was sticky. But it was BOGO at Ulta and I was broke so I kept messing with it until I found a way for it to work for me. That being said, it might not be for everyone. I have to over apply and, literally, quench my hair with it. I use a clean self tanning mitt to scrunch my hair (I've used a wash cloth too) then use my diffuser. My curls are PHENOMENAL!

Kenra Curl Glaze Mousse
This is another favorite. It's an odd product, starts as mousse-ish and turns into something clear and sticky, but this odd product has some of the most incredible results. You don't need much but you need to really work it through your hair. Diffuse and done. Beautiful bouncy curls. Every. Single. Time.

Sebastian Twisted Styling Foam
Rounding out my favorites is this baby. It takes a little work but has always been worth it. Like the OGX, you need to overapply a little but the curls are worth it. They've lasted through Tennessee's humidity and through my last job (I worked in a warehouse that was not temperature controlled).

What products do you use? Is there a mother of all stylers that I'm missing? Put it in the comments.

I love you all and I'll be back soon!
