Sol Theory Beauty Subscription Box
I'm a new subscriber to Sol Theory. I was approached about being a brand ambassador for them awhile back. Internally there was a lot of back and forth about it. I accepted the ambassadorship and have just received my first box. Quite possibly my only box. I'm not impressed with anything about this subscription so far.
I'll start with info about the subscription, then we'll dig into April's box and the items.
The beauty only subscription is $16.99 per month plus shipping. The number of items (and box value) varies greatly but past boxes looked promising. Being a newer subscription, I believe their items would improve with time and a larger subscriber base. Billing occurs on the first and shipping is stated to happen between the 12th and the 17th. Mine shipped on the last day. The ship via DHL with end delivery being completed by USPS.
The presentation of my box is poor. All items arrived in a plain box with a sticker indicating the company. That doesn't bother me. What does is that the items were all in there loosely. I'm glad there wasn't any type of pressed powder included. There also doesn't seem to be any type of theme, as with every box I've subscribed to.
On to the items.....
Crown 12 piece Vegan makeup brush set with case - When I heard Crown brushes would be included this month I was excited. They make nice brushes. This set, however, makes no sense at all. It's not a face kit but it doesn't offer much for eyes either. It also smells, quite heavily, of PVC. These appear to be the low end of what Crown offers. I see myself possibly using a couple of these brushes but the rest will take up space and collect dust.
Girlactik beauty eyeliner in grey - It's no secret that I'm not an eyeliner person. My shaky hand doesn't allow it. But I thought a nice grey liner might be nice. This is a strange liner. It's pretty large and has no definitive point. I'm not sure if this would be usable for me.
Bella Terra Mineral Bronzer in Sensual - This is a pretty deep toned bronzer and, since it's loose, I'm kinda scared to use it. It's easier to lightly dip into a pressed powder than a loose one. It's also quite shimmery. I prefer to keep my bronzers matte. I might try this out as a shadow.
Manna Kadar Lash Extending Primer - This is probably the only item I'll keep and use. I love their mascara so I'll definitely give this primer a shot. As far as a beauty routine is concerned, I see mascara primer as "extra". But if this actually lengthens it might be worth it.
As a whole this months box is a pass for me. It doesn't seem worth the money to me (yes, ambassadors pay for their boxes too). Do I see myself keeping this subscription in the future? For $20 a month, maybe not. I'll probably give this a 2nd month to see if I have any fuzzier feelings about it.
As always, thank you for joining me here today. I will see you all next time.
